New Delhi, Jun 15 (PTI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Saturday said the country recorded one hundred fifteen. Thanks to diverse water conservation techniques, seventy lakh metric tonnes of food are manufactured despite drought and deficient rainfall.

“We manufactured one hundred fifteen. Seventy lakh metric tonnes of meal grain. This will be possible because of less dependency on rainfall and installing region-alternative arrangements,” Fadnavis said.

He elaborated on the blessings of Jal Yukt Shivar farm ponds, the ongoing irrigation projects, and the plans for the bold Marathwada Watergrid mission.

Jal Yukt Shivar is the Maharashtra government’s flagship program. It envisages desilting streams and inspiring farm ponds, with an emphasis on water percolation.

Fadnavis additionally mentioned the measures taken with the aid of his authorities to mitigate droughts, like deploying tankers, fodder camps, and large tree plantation programs.

He thanked the Centre for the “maximum ever assistance” to Maharashtra this year in tackling the drought.

The BJP chief stated the Maharashtra government is likewise stressing efforts for rainwater harvesting in towns.
