As kids, we needed to wait until after dinner to have our dessert lest we damage our appetites. But now that we’re all grown up, we can have sweets whenever we want — even for breakfast! Owner Peter Pagano won’t disclose all the family secrets of this mild but fulfilling deal. However, he does note that this ricotta-based cheesecake is gluten-loose — though it’s simply no longer fats-unfastened. Slices are served with a homemade raspberry sauce and whipped cream, making it the ideal complement to a conventional Italian dinner.
Although Mussel & Burger Bar is well-known for burgers and specific mussel dishes, they also have mind-blowing cakes. Longtime favorites consist of the Chocolate Torte, Tiramisu Cheesecake, and Carrot Cake, and new to the line-up is the Lemon Berry Cake. The cake is packed with juicy, simply ripe berries and a lovely layer of mascarpone cheese. It’s crowned with a candy raspberry glaze and served with residence-made vanilla ice cream, brown sugar crumbles, and clean berries. It’s a sharable dessert. However, once you take a chunk, you can take it for yourself.
Ostra is the most modern in a portfolio of restaurants owned by Chef Adam Burris, and their signature dessert is the Cricket Cake. That’s now not only a catchy little call but both. Cricket powder is one of the fundamental ingredients in this dessert — it replaces some flour inside the recipe but, amazingly, doesn’t detract from its deliciousness. The last product is crowned with house-made, rotten banana charcoal ice cream and lavender ganache. You’ll get a dose of wonderful candied worms and crickets through the cake’s unique garnishes.
The Pine Room was a Louisville favored for many years, till the authentic construction turned into lost to a hearth. Thankfully, proprietor Augusta Holland has opened a new rendition of this favored vintage. Their Donut Fritters have that melt-in-your-mouth goodness that makes you beg for a greater way to sincere substances like bloodless butter, baking powder, cinnamon, almond milk, and eggs. The gluten-loose batter is then dropped into a 350-diploma fryer for three to 5 minutes to create a crisp outer shell. Finally, each donut is tossed with a generous portion of cinnamon sugar.
While extraordinary food and laugh arcade games are served seven days a week on the Rebar, the dessert menu gets the highest rankings. There are ice cream sandwiches, and the Saturday Morning Ice Cream Sandwich (our favorite!) features Fruity Pebbles-crusted vanilla ice cream served between warm Belgian waffles drizzled with strawberry sauce.
